In the face of the rather repressive attitude towards anyone critical about the direction the breed is being pushed to, we are a steadily growing larger group of breeders and owners of Akhal Teke from Europe, Northern America and CIS whose goal it is to inform both newcomers and old hands about such areas which need to be discussed and known, but rarely are. Our topics are often controversial and politically charged subjects such as breed politics, myths gone awry, genetical defects, poor breeding decisions or population genetics of the Akhal Teke.
This website is the platform on which we publish our articles, in fact anyone wishing to contribute may send us reports or articles, which - after having been verified and researched - will be added to the site. Given that we have observed how whistleblowers among the breed have been treated in the past, including verbal or physical harassment, derision, veiled or open threats, in short the whole range critical informants usually are subjected to in multimillion dollar businesses, and to avoid further repressive actions, single authors are not named publicly. Facts we cite are given along with the relevant proof for them, where there is conjecture, we clearly mark it as such, the articles about basic scientific concepts can be followed up upon via the sources we also openly mention.
We view ourselves as a grassroots movement of admirers and lovers of the original Turkoman and Teke breed, such as it was before the Turan flat was ingested by Russia rsp. the Soviet Union. Our goal is to show interested people where this breed came from, how the breeding of the past 10-12 decades deviated from the original breeding mores, what this has done to the breed, how it needs to be regarded today, what problems have arisen from the change in breeding selection, what newcomers need to look for and be aware of and how the gravest issues might be overcome.
